CharterWave Wins First Prize for Best Original Online Content

What a week I’m having!

Just three days after I announced a deal that will put my website BoaterMouth before an audience of 3.5 million boating enthusiasts (more than every U.S. marine magazine, combined), I learned this morning that my website CharterWave has won first place in the Original Online Content category of the 2009 Boating Writers International Writing Contest.

The judges said that CharterWave “draws you into the charter lifestyle. Great production values coupled with an interesting mix of articles and videos make for an entertaining and informative visit.”

I’d like to make sure I publicly thank the site’s designer and administrator, John Turner of Media Buoy. Without his programming and graphics knowledge, all my ideas would remain just that instead of becoming living entities on the Web.

I’d also like to congratulate my friends Bill Sisson of Soundings and Diane Byrne of MegayachtNews on their second- and third-place wins. I am honored to be named alongside such well-regarded marine journalists.
